Monday was a day of sculpting and model plane making. I also poured rubber for a Balok order which comes out of the mold later today. Also a set of Spock ears.
The Talosian is really shaping up. I should finish her either tomorrow or Wednesday.
Started doing some more covering on the free flight Cessna Cardinal. It’s coming along nicely. I am working on getting built several new flying models built for this event in October. All free flight, no RC.
Every last order has been shipped! Thank you all, all of you for the orders. This is the first time since last October I can have a break and work on new projects. All those orders kept me busy every week for a long time.
I spent a couple of hours yesterday blocking and roughing out the Talosian lady. It’s very rough but already looks like her. As the clay gets a bit more dried out I’ll be able to fine detail this sculpt and make a mold later next week.
I also go some time back on the free flight model airplanes I need to have ready for an event in Arizona in October of this year. I find building these free flight models so relaxing. No electronics to install, just a pure flying machine that flies naturally, silently, in the beautiful peaceful skies.
Here’s one of the best examples of, “Why Free Flight”. Tom is a master of free flight and his videos are pure beauty of flight without loud gas engines and radio control. This is how it all began and how it still remains today. Watch this video. It’s so peaceful. Something we all need very badly. Peace.
Time for a new mask. This time the Talosian “Keeper” from the two part episode of the original Star Trek TV series, “The Menagerie”.
I’m using Mary’s life mask for this one since the Talosians were played by lady actors. Her life mask is perfect. Don’t expect to wear the mask as it is more a full size display bust. However if it fits you you could cut the eyes out and wear it. This will be the actual size so it will be on the small size as per the original.
As you can see I’m all set up to just start when I get there this morning.
I finished the modifications to the Sinbad E powered glider yesterday. I think it looks much better and she has down thrust and right trust to counter the torque and the tendency to climb under power. She goes up again this Sunday for another test flight. She’s a large ship. 93 inch wing span but light with an AUW of 3.65 pounds.
It’s been 4 years since we finished this film. It had an amazing response from souls who remained in the shadows because they had this interaction with something they couldn’t explain. They feared ridicule. Loss of family, and careers. But after viewing the film they came forward to me in secret. They shared with me their secret in their emails.
These people you will never see in the tabloids. Or the tacky documentaries about so-called”Alien Abduction”. Our culture and the people that really run the world made it their mission to make sure these people would never be believed. People in power in this world are instilling fear among the public that this unknown intelligence is a threat to this world. This intelligence never wanted to harm us. They made contact with the innocent loving souls in hopes of having contact. Nothing more.
I have re-cut this film to better reflect this experience and to remove the propaganda and fear spread by the UFO community, and the powers that control the world who fed them false abductions and lies. Yes people were abducted and mistreated by our own powerful and dark operatives that wanted to know more about the people who have contact with these beings.
There is great evil at work in our world. This intelligence is not the presence of fear. It is our own humans in power who are to be feared. They make wars, hate, and greed. They kill their own. They have brought great harm to us. Not these visitors from the unknown.
This is the story of one such person who had contact.
Or maybe, just maybe it was all a shared dream by millions of people. But Something is There.
The director’s cut is in edit now and will be released soon.
What a long haul it has been. I can officially say that yesterday I have felt the best I have felt since the Grandkids visited back in Easter of this year. We didn’t have Covid (we were tested) but we had something and it was brutal. But I feel myself again and nothing makes you more grateful to be alive than good health. The song “I can see Clearly Now” comes to my mind. I can hear Cheech Marin singing it though. LOL
I have found the best way to get through something like this is to stay busy if you can. Mary and I pushed through it and the work and activities kept one’s mind and passed time. It was also a confidence booster because it showed you could do things you thought were not possible. Everything from flying to getting through 30 orders of masks. Work with me here because there is always a positive to every negative or the universe would cease to exist.
Yesterday I packed and made a box for the Sixth finger mask. That mask is my largest and the standard boxes won’t fit. I painted a set of ears and packed up the rocket kit. The last two apes mask got packed as well.
Today everything ships and that’s it for a while. I’m officially caught up with a clean slate for the first time this year. Thanks for all the orders, it sure has kept me busy.
So now it’s time to start some new masks. I’m going to do two. One is the Talosian from the original Star Trek TV series.
The other from The Outer Limits. And it’s one of the more creepy, scary, episodes, O.B.I.T.
Both these masks will be full head latex. The Taloian will be a collectors display piece and the Outer Limits mask either wearable or for display.
I did fly the Sinbad last Sunday and it flew well. It needs a few tweaks and I’m making a better cowl for it. I started yesterday and made the cowl out of balsa thick sheets sanded to shape. This cowl has a better contour to the airframe and I didn’t need to use the spinner which made it hard to tighten down the prop. This will get covered with Ultrakote in matching colors.
Oh and remember that post I made about the maiden flight of my F-16? My friend Sam took these pictures of the moment she left the runway and came back to it safe and sound.
On landing aproach. Gear down.
That was my Monday. A good day with lots done and a finish to that long road of work while being under the weather. Today looks bright.
Last two days have been complicated with important family matters to attend to so I have been away from the studio but I’m back today.
I’ll be pouring up the rest of the parts for a rocket order today and getting ready to ship the mask orders out and the rocket on Monday.
I’m also getting my 93 inch wingspan Super Sinbad ready to fly on electric power this Sunday. Although it’s been flown as a pure glider on the slope I now have a field I fly at. The Camarillo Flying Circus I’ve talked about in previous posts. Adding an electric motor and prop will allow me to fly the plane much more. The conversion was fun although I plan to replace this quickie cowl for it as time permits.
Here you see the balsa wood block I shaped to the cowl and spinner and then once sanded smooth I used it to vacuum form from PETG the cowl. The plane was first conceived in 1943 as a free flight model airplane.
I brought it home to work on in the evenings. This is the plane with the rough cowl which will owrk well for test flying.
That’s what I did Tuesday. Mary stayed home and I went to the studio with Rosie and finished up my mask orders. This new paint I’m using is best when allowed to let set a couple of days before handling before packing and shipping.
We are looking at Friday or Monday at the latest to ship. In addition to everything else I’m doing I have some family matters and events I have to attend to today and tomorrow that won’t afford me much time at the studio.
This week I had more mask orders, two apes and the Sixth Finger from the Outer Limits, one of the best Science Fiction TV shows ever made.
While I waited for rubber to thicken in the molds and dry out after being removed, I finally finished that Lotus 38 that Bobby Jones drove in the Indy 500 in 1965. It was a very involved build for a slot car. Actually for any model build. But in the end it was well worth the effort and money it took to build this little jewel that I will treasure.
I also worked on the ME P. 1101. To repeat, I designed this Electric Ducted Fan radio controlled model based on a German fighter jet from WW2. I sold quite a few kits and built a few myself. Best part is they all flew very well. I found someone that still had an unbuilt kit a few years ago and bought it. I’m slowly putting it together now that I have a field to fly at once more. The Camarillo Flying Circus has really been a game changer for me and I’m making ready many planes I have not been able to fly for over 9 years.
The airframe is all assembled and the retractable landing gear go in next.
That was pretty much the week. Next week I’ll be laying hair on those masks and painting the Sixth Finger. I’m also converting a 1943 designed Sinbad glider into a powered model. This one has a 93 inch wing span and now that I have a place to fly it besides slope soaring I have the motor and gear to fly this on the prop. I’ll fly it more this way.
Yesterday I started the conversion by cutting off the nose to make an engine cowling and mount the motor.
The plane has been flown before. Here I am on the beach flying this amazing historical airplane.
Thanks to Dave at Smith Brothers Hobby Center for all his time to help me get set up correctly for this airplane.
It was a great week and it feels so good to be well again. When things like this happen to me it reminds me to be very grateful for my health. It trivializes any other problems you may have. As they say “if you have your health you have everything”. So true.
I recommend you watch the new Star Trek series, “Strange New Worlds”. If you like the original 60s TV show as much as I did then you’ll like this show. It’s very close to having the original concept of Star Trek back again 56 years later.
I was only 16 back then and it changed my world and gave me hope for the future. It still has this message. We should all observe Gene Roddenberry’s message and stop all this war and hate. This first episode makes this clear. The universe awaits us to explore. One race, the human race, and the stars that await us.
It is a great day to live!
Thanks for all the love and support. Please make something beautiful and bring it into this world. It will help make this planet a better place.
